Lectors

LectionaryLectors assist at Mass by proclaiming the first reading (typically from the Old Testament, or the Acts of the Apostles during Easter) and/or the Second Reading which is from the New Testament. They also assist with the Intercessions. If you are interested in becoming a Lector please contact Sr. Ellen Kraft

For Current Lectors

December and January Schedules:

12 PM Busch Campus Mass
8 PM College Ave/St. Peter's Mass
9 PM Cook/Douglass Campus Mass

Helpful reminders about Lectoring:

- Practice your Readings prior to coming to Mass.

- If you cannot assist at the Mass you are scheduled for contact Sr. Ellen ASAP

- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass starts and sign in to let us know you are here.

- We are currently in Year A of the Lectionary Cycle

- The First Reading is done immediately after the Opening Prayer (remember in Advent and Lent this comes earlier in the Mass since there is no Gloria)

- If there is no music minister, the person proclaiming the First Reading should lead the Responsorial Psalm.

- The Intercessions occur after the Nicene Creed, as a guide, listen for the words "We believe in the Holy Spirit"
